Sam Smith open to collaborating with Carl Malone Montecido

English singer-songwriter Sam Smith was quick to answer if it would be fine for him to sing with Filipino singer Carl Malone Montecido, who has admitted to being his biggest fan.

“One hundred million percent yes, yes, yes. It would be an absolute honor to sing with him. He’s incredible. He’s a better singer than I am. I’ll be so scared singing with him. He’s unbelievable,” Sam said in an interview with MYX Global.

Carl, who is visually impaired, captured the attention of several international celebrities when a video of him singing Sam’s “Too Good At Goodbyes” went viral last February.

Sam himself couldn’t help but express admiration for his talent.

“WHO IS THIS KID!!!!!? YOU ARE OUT OF THIS UNIVERSE WHOEVER YOU ARE (heart emoji),” tweeted Sam, reposting the video on his social media account.

Carl replied to the English singer-songwriter: “Hi, I’m Carl Malone Montecido who sang your song ‘Too Good At Goodbyes.’ thank you for reacting and thank you because you noticed this viral video!”

Among other celebs impressed by Carl is American singer-songwriter Kelly Clarkson who described his performance as “insane.”

Half-Filipina singer and Pussycat Dolls member Nicole Scherzinger said: “Omg he is EVERYTHING babe!!!”

American singer-songwriters Anastacia, Brandi Carlile, and Lebanese Australian TV host Jessica Kahawaty suggested for Sam to give the student a break.

“Please find him and make him famous,” Jessica wrote.

British Racing driver Lewis Hamilton believes so too, relating: “Wow I pray you find him, the world needs to hear his voice!”

British designer Daniel Lismore thinks the Pinoy singer should be on American daytime television variety comedy talk show “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

Other international celebrities such as Bebe Rexha, The Vamps member James McVey, Ty Dolla Sign, Benny Blanco, and Julia Michaels also praised Carl.

Filipino personalities like Isabelle Daza, Angeline Quinto, and Iza Calzado were also proud of their kababayan.
